Pamukkale - "Cotton Castle"

Pamukkale - "Cotton Castle"

Pamukkale is one of the most famous landmarks in Turkey, visited by a large number of people annually. It is located in the southwest of Turkey. The name "Cotton Castle" is given to the area due to its white color. At first glance, it may resemble a ski resort, but it is actually a carbonate mineral formed from calcite found in the water. This mineral has shaped the terraces, which are filled with thermal water. As Pamukkale is part of UNESCO, no construction is allowed in the area. Once, there was an asphalt road and hotels here, but they were demolished when Pamukkale was included in the UNESCO list.
