The Hollywood Walk of Fame

The Hollywood Walk of Fame, annually visited by more than ten million tourists, is undoubtedly one of the major attractions in Los Angeles, but getting a star on it is not that simple. The idea for the Walk of Fame dates back to 1953 when the then-president of the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, E.M. Stuart, decided to honor the "dream factory" with stars. In 1958, they selected five random names from the entertainment world, and the first star on the Walk of Fame was dedicated to director Stanley Kramer in 1960. In the long history of the Walk of Fame, four stars have been stolen, namely those of James Stewart, Kirk Douglas, Gene Autry, and Gregory Peck.
